Framing Phase: II

Phill and Chad put together the header for the clearstory window.

The first of the roof rafters are secured on by Chris and Jason.

Each rafter is nailed into a ridge board. The ridge board transfer load between opposing pairs of rafters.

From this angle you can see the groove cut into the rafter.

The front of the house, facing the boys' room.

Chris Kepner the roofer.

The rafters are leaned up against the wall until they are ready to be nailed into place.

Mardi Gras Break

Jason is tying together two walls by attaching a 2x4 that overlaps both walls.

Each treated base board must be secured to the foundation with both anchor bolts and f-26 adhesive.

The house at the end of Monday.

Connection between the mom's bathroom and the main bath. The attic will be located above this wall.

Phill and Steve are moving a pre-framed window into the trailer. A window is framed together on the ground and then secured into place on the studs.

The middle dividing wall is put into place.

Footers are dug out for the front porch slab.

The house at the end of Wednesday.

First Days Of Framing

Each wall is measured and built on the slap, then raised into place on the anchor bolts.

The board which directly touches the slab is a treated wood. The green color comes from the chemical reaction between the wood and the preservation components.

The first wall is complete!

By the end of the day we have four walls set in place.

The protective visqueen is used as a vapor barrier.

Each corner of the rebar is tied together with wire.

The Visqueen had to be tucked behind the rebar.

The concrete is poured into the footings by four cement trucks.

The temperature at the site was 20 degrees today. We started a small fire to fight frost-bite.
